Controversial Sites I come Across on the Web

First of all, let's get something straight. This will NOT be about the Kennedy assassination, the 9/11 attacks, and probably won't have things in it like UFOs or ghosts. There are plenty (too many) sites like that already, and any search engine can pull up more information than I could ever list in a single blog. Besides, I have (slightly) better things to do with my time.

Here, I'll be telling you about things that are truly unusual. Granted, ghosts are not usually considered to be usual, but I have been steeped in the paranormal pretty much my whole life. Not that I buy into all of it, or even most of it, as I think that there are a great many hoaxes and frauds out there. If I come across one, I'll be sure to let you know.

However, I do have an open, albeit sceptical, mind. I think that it's a big world and an even bigger universe out there. To completely dismiss "paranormal" events or abilities out of hand would be, I think, as crazy as believing in all of them without question. Both positions are equally foolish, as both require blind faith, either in something or against it. (Are you listening, James Randi?)

Test Them Out for Yourself

I intend to limit my postings to things that you can test and verify for yourself. Check these things out. DON'T take my word for it. These sites and ideas are controversial not becuse they come out of some crackpot's head, but because they are yet to be proven.

Arthur Clarke once wrote, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." I think that there are a lot of people faking magical ablities. However, if we consider Mr. Clarke's quotation, perhaps there are people who can tap into something greater than we currently understand. The people who go about (largely successfully) debunking frauds do not consider the posibility that the things that people claim may not be magic, they may just be using a technology that we currently do not understand, making it magical.

I like to think that, someday, we will understand this technology and be able to systematically use it. Not with computers or new machines, although that may be the case, but by learning to expand our minds. (I have already included a machine on this post, as I think that it falls into the "controversial" category.)

Well, in a nutshell, they are tones that go into each ear separately creating a third tone when your brain processes the different sounds. Binaural beats are falling off the controversial list as there is more and more proof that different sounds can alter your brain waves. If you've ever heard of the Mozart effect, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Binaural beats are used for inducing meditative states condusive to everything from relaxation, improved memory, weight loss, addiction recovery, and treating insomnia. More controversial is the utilization of this technology to aid in astral projection, telepathy, and all things ESP.
