Why are we still using gasoline? In fact, why are we using fossil fuels at all? We have the technology to use cleaner burning, more efficient energy sources. I'm still hoping for Mr. Fusion to run my car so that, "...where we're going, we don't need...roads." I want to fly my car with the refuse I find in the trash bin. Is that really too much to ask?
I guess it is, but until then, I'll have to settle for better running, cleaner burning fuels. We already have fuel cells. There are those who claim that we can run our cars on water. (Questionable. I'll have to check into that later.) We have hybrid cars, which seem to be the best of both worlds, but still use a resource that is getting more and more expensive.
Enter the Electric Car Conversion
Now, I'm no tree hugger. In fact, I think that green living is incredibly impractical for most people. However, if you're passionate about saving the planet, and you're willing to make sacrifices, both in terms of convenience and money, go for it. Just, please, don't try ot make me feel guilty because I like to eat meat and let the trash man pick up my organic waste because I don't compost.
OK. Enough ranting. Frankly, I'm really looking to save money. That's why I ride a motorcycle. I think it's the greenest, most practical vehicle on the road today. I get 50 mpg and my insurance is about $200 a year. Costs me about $12 to fill the tank.
Then I started looking at converting a car to electric. Turns out, it's not only possible, but can be done pretty cheaply. There are people who will convert your car for about $12,000 - $18,000. If you try to do it yourself with a kit, expect to spend about $8,000 - $11,000. However, with a little ingenuity, and the right plans, you can do it for less than $500.
Which Plans do I go With?
There are a plethora of plans on the internet for electric car conversions. You need one that's easy to follow and, more importantly, will tell you where to get the parts necessary on the cheap (sometimes free). I found a lens reviewing convert-2-ev.com. Seems like this is the way to go, not just for the electric car plans, but if you go with the going green pack, or whatever they call it, you can get four more books regarding alternative fuels. Controversial Sites I come Across on the Web
First of all, let's get something straight. This will NOT be about the Kennedy assassination, the 9/11 attacks, and probably won't have things in it like UFOs or ghosts. There are plenty (too many) sites like that already, and any search engine can pull up more information than I could ever list in a single blog. Besides, I have (slightly) better things to do with my time.
Here, I'll be telling you about things that are truly unusual. Granted, ghosts are not usually considered to be usual, but I have been steeped in the paranormal pretty much my whole life. Not that I buy into all of it, or even most of it, as I think that there are a great many hoaxes and frauds out there. If I come across one, I'll be sure to let you know.
However, I do have an open, albeit sceptical, mind. I think that it's a big world and an even bigger universe out there. To completely dismiss "paranormal" events or abilities out of hand would be, I think, as crazy as believing in all of them without question. Both positions are equally foolish, as both require blind faith, either in something or against it. (Are you listening, James Randi?)
Test Them Out for Yourself
I intend to limit my postings to things that you can test and verify for yourself. Check these things out. DON'T take my word for it. These sites and ideas are controversial not becuse they come out of some crackpot's head, but because they are yet to be proven.
Arthur Clarke once wrote, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." I think that there are a lot of people faking magical ablities. However, if we consider Mr. Clarke's quotation, perhaps there are people who can tap into something greater than we currently understand. The people who go about (largely successfully) debunking frauds do not consider the posibility that the things that people claim may not be magic, they may just be using a technology that we currently do not understand, making it magical.
I like to think that, someday, we will understand this technology and be able to systematically use it. Not with computers or new machines, although that may be the case, but by learning to expand our minds. (I have already included a machine on this post, as I think that it falls into the "controversial" category.)
I encourage you all to check out the pages that I recommend and to post your findings here. Maybe we can all begin a forum in which we can share our results in an honest and impartial place. If you find something particularly interesting or insightful, please share it here so that we can all benefit from one another.
So, without further ado, let's start exploring.
Review of Binaural Beats at The Unexplainable Store
The Unexplainable Store is a site in which you can download binaural beats. What are binaural beats? Well, in a nutshell, they are tones that go into each ear separately creating a third tone when your brain processes the different sounds. Binaural beats are falling off the controversial list as there is more and more proof that different sounds can alter your brain waves. If you've ever heard of the Mozart effect, you'll know what I'm talking about.
Binaural beats are used for inducing meditative states condusive to everything from relaxation, improved memory, weight loss, addiction recovery, and treating insomnia. More controversial is the utilization of this technology to aid in astral projection, telepathy, and all things ESP. Basically, if you can think of something that can benefit you through meditation, binaural beats can get you there faster. For a more indepth review and explanation, click here.
Magniwork Free Magnetic Generator
Here's one that I thought was interesting. Right up there with the car that runs on water. A bit of a rant, as the post goes off on everything from thermodynamics to William Randolph Hearst's conspiracy against marijuana. However, like everything else that I plan to post here, I have to ask myself, "What if?" What if we could build a generator that, once started, could go on virtually forever? If something like this interests you, either click on the title above or go directly to Magniwork's site.
